Lines of Light at the IUFM

Lines of light found in the fontaines, lavoirs, locks and ponds in Central Brittany, a collection greatly expanded since their first exposure to the public at the Gallery Tremal at Gouarec in 2011, now numbering twenty six photographic studies of  wavelets, water drops and miniscus, printed on Canson Photo Satin with an Epson Photo R2880. A new camera, the Panasonic Lumix FZ150 obtained in 2012, has enabled a closer insight into water features, it's larger zoom makes it possible to capture images at greater distances, a benefit when ones movement is confined to the water's edge.

"Photographe anglais vivant en Bretagne, Peter  focalise son regard sur les différentes surfaces de l'eau: Etang, source, fontaine, ruisseau, canal. Autant de lieux d'explorations où se révèlent les actions de la lumière et ses incidences sur l'eau et où la photographie tente de capturer des lignes lumineuses, des ondulations chromatiques et graphiques.
Trois interventions sont prévues en mars auprès des étudiants en Master 1, afin qu'il présente les enjeux de son travail et des exploitations pédagogiques de sa démarche artistique.
L'exposition sera visible du 7 Mars au 3 Avril 2013
Il a déjà présenté  en octobre 2012, l'intégralité d'un projet intitulé "54 yeux", mené en partenariat avec l'abbaye de bon repos et soutenu par la DRAC auprès de 27 élèves de CM1 CM2 de l'école publique de Gouarec."

Deux artistes exposent à l'atelier mis à disposition à l'association Artistes A +. Jusqu'au 15 juillet, l'artiste peintre Sylviane Aymé et le photographe d'art Peter Johnson sont présents avec plusieurs de leurs oeuvres.

Ils proposent également des stages.

Il suffit d'être équipé d'un appareil photo numérique pour la photographie

et bloc de papier, crayons, pinceaux et aquarelles pour la peinture.

Le petit matériel pourra être prêté.

Les stages se dérouleront les mercredis 27 juin, 4 et 11 juillet et les samedis 30 juin, 7 et 14 juillet, de 14 h 30 à 17 h.

Pour l'exposition : du mercredi au samedi de 14 h 30 à 18 h 30 et le dimanche de 10 h 30 à 13 h et de 15 h à 18 h 30.

54 Yeux a Photographic Project realised during an Arts Residence at The Abbey Bon Repos

Un projet d'envergure débute actuellement à l'abbaye de Bon-Repos, à Saint-Gelven. Les 27 élèves de cycle 3 de l'école publique de Gouarec sont les principaux acteurs de la résidence pédagogique de Peter Johnson, photographe caurélois.

Il va leur prodiguer ses conseils avertis pour réaliser une exposition de photographies de l'abbaye et de son environnement, qui sera exposée à l'abbaye, puis à la galerie Trémel de Gouarec, la mairie, la maison Saint-Joseph pour finir à l'IUFM de Saint-Brieuc.

« Rencontre Artistique : un autre regard sur le patrimoine »

“Lets replace the eyes of the artist, by the eyes of 27 children.” 

An artist, in collaboration with a group of childen, will create two photographic art works. One will be virtual, a Microsoft Photosynth, The second material, a photographic mosaic. Both works will examine the heritage of The Abbey Bon Repos and its site.

"In a place one photograph captures an instant of time in space and is mono-directional".
In the same place, several photographs each capturing instances of time, in different spaces will, when put together, create an image that will be multi-directional.

Using a group with equipped cameras will give the artist an opportunity to explore place, time and space, replacing his eyes with those of the group.
The digital images collected from the group’s participation will result in two or three works.
One virtual which will make use of technology freely available on the Internet, Mirosoft’s “Photosynth” this will create a three dimensional model of the Abbey Bon Repos. It will remain on the Internet, accessible to the public on “Bing Maps” When linked to the Abbey’s web site it will serve as a virtual tour and be a useful tool of discovery and communication.

On Monday the 2nd April 2012 27 children spaced at intervals of 10 metres took a series of nine photographes, they were moved forward ten metres and repeated the series. This was to be repeated ten times. The result was over 3000 photos which I had to sort, assemble by series of 9 for each of the 27 childen, and then print on to water colour paper, The mosaics were then cut out and glued by the children to the perspex in vertical lines. Each vertical line recreates the path each child took as they moved across the site.
